They don't make em like this anymore
Ever since I got my first Holga a few years back, I've re-discovered film photography and as much as I love my Holga, I wanted a camera with a proper viewfinder to more accurately compose my shots. I picked up a used Olympus XA2- one that was mildly beat up on the outside, but with a clean lens and everything else working.I really like this camera. It's build like a Russian battle tank with a sturdy metal and plastic exterior. The fact that this camera was produced in the early 1980's and there are still so many working models floating around is a testament to their build quality. The power consumption is minimal. It runs on two silver oxide batteries (don't use alkaline or your pictures will be underexposed) which I hear can last for several years with typical use. To turn the camera on, you slide open the clamshell. The lens is a fixed focal length lens with no zoom and does not retract; once you open it up, it's ready to fire instantly. The shutter button...

Works great
Works with my Sony Xplod BT5700U headunit. Cable is long and thin so it can be easily tucked under trim panels. Comes with 2 adhesive clips to hold cable if you are running it under the dash. Other people say the hear me quite well. I have it attached to the visor though it can be mounted to dash with adhesive tape too. It rotates nearly 180 degrees.

Highly recommend this external microphone
I am using this external microphone with the Sony MEXBT3900U . I had the microphone and the car stereo installed at the same time, at Best Buy. I have found the quality of the hands-free calling over Bluetooth to be excellent. I can hear callers very well through my car speakers (it is loud and very easy to hear!). Callers can hear me very well, even at high speeds (with windows closed!). I haven't opened up the window going 55 mph and checked the quality of the call, since this is a not realistic condition for me; but, may be if you have a convertible I guess.I think the location where you install the microphone is very important. makes all the difference!
Using with Sony Explode 3800 and 3900 head units. (good units; 3900 is now a much better deal and unit) Under 25mph the internal mic is ok. Over 25mph road noise begins to consume the transmission of the internal mic. At highway speed, internal mic is absolutely useless. With this external mic at highway speeds, listeners tell me they can hear me GREAT. From useless to fantastic...for only 29 bucks.

A great go anywhere camera and worthy upgrade.
The Stylus Tough 6000 is the second Olympus waterproof camera I've got. I got the original 720SW, it survived quite a few adventures and continues its faithful service with a friend. I was ready for an upgrade.There were two main reasons I upgraded from the 720sw. One was the wide angle lens 28mm vs 35-38mm on it. The other was hopefully longer battery life. I found the 720sw's battery life to be anemic at best.I considered the 1030sw but decided to try out the new generation of sensor, CCD image stabilization and tap control. The Stylus Tough 8000 was also a contender but I didn't need the extra hardened casing or expense. This has the same rating as the 720SW which survived everything I threw at it and now comes in three attractive colors. I got the blue one.OverviewPulling the camera out of the box and playing with it there were several notable improvements over the previous generation. It's not quite as heavy and uses more plastics...

) and in the same way I fell in love with the XA, my new 'camera of choice' - the Fuji X10 - is now hard at work, and the foundations of yet another photographic project have been laid down. ' series shot on an Olympus XA. To my mind I can see echoes of Robert Frank here - now there's a photographer I'd love to meet. The camera's given me a whole new way of shooting and, ironically, there's no way I'd be getting the shots I am if I wasn't working alone. Personally, I love working alone, and daily I bow in thanks before Tripodius, the great God of Photography. Some of this work -mine, not Mr Frank's.

I put the film canister in the picture so you can get some idea of how small the XA is. When it was released in 1979 the XA was somewhat of a sensation. When I did look I found that the Olympus XA was fully functional. When I got my Olympus XA it looked great on the outside, however I found that it had a badly corroded battery. Unlike other small cameras of the time the lens on the XA did not need to be extended for picture taking. The XA is definitely a pocket camera. Besides being small the XA takes excellent pictures. The lever on the XA seems like one from a cheap plastic point and shot. One thing to watch for when using the XA is that the shutter button is very sensitive.
